Free Digital Textbooks Funded Through Advertising

Postby cheap-textbooks » Sat Jun 30, 2012 8:43 pm, an organization that makes its digital textbooks available free to students, has taken the approach of funding its work by including advertising in the pages of the books. As an example, Strategic Management, a 52-page book, includes advertising for master's level programs and job recruitment advertisements.

The books are available as free, downloadable PDFs.

To access them, the coed registers on the Bookboon Internet site. "We know the prevailing pricing of textbooks is daunting scholars from buying the compulsory reading, but we are changing that," related Thomas Buus Madsen, chief operations officer. "Our mission is to give the chance for scholars to go thru school without needing to spend a single dollar on textbooks, and we are making an impact for many students." The company targets its advertisements at particular groups of scholars. Engineering scholars, as an example, will get adverts from engineering corporations doing hiring. Larry Walther, dept head in the High-school of Business at Utah State School , has released multiple books thru Bookboon to help his accounting scholars.

"If they like having a tough copy, they can just print it out," he announced, adding that most books needed for accounting courses cost around $200. "This is among the techniques technology will lower the price of tutorial materials." The publisher stated that it now offers eight hundred free textbooks.
