Tips for renting textbooks

Postby cheap-textbooks » Tue Feb 28, 2012 9:08 am

Renting textbooks on the internet is becoming a very popular option among college students. Since this service is in high demand, there are more and more online rental companies being created to fill the growing needs. With all this competition if you decide you would like to rent your college textbooks, then you will be able to save a lot of money each semester. According to online rental company reviews, you should be able to save anywhere from 50% to 80%!
Be sure to research each textbook company. Some will give you more options than others, and some are also more affordable than others. Some of them will even provide you with a pre-paid shipping package to return the books for free after the semester is over! Most offer different rental lengths to fit both the quarter and semester systems as well as summer school. Make sure you select the term length lets you keep the book up through finals and if you need to adjust the length it usually is not a problem if you log in and let them know in advance.
As for the study guides and software packages that are needed for some courses, some online textbook rental companies will include them with your order and others will not. If you do have the option to rent college textbooks as well as the additional material that comes with them, be sure to read the terms and conditions to see if there's any restrictions on installing software or using workbooks that are part of this additional material.
Make sure you do price comparisons before placing any orders. You need to be aware of all your options before you rent textbook copies and related material as well as the term. Using a good rental price comparison service will not only show you who has your book available for rent but their prices. The service will also provide a quick link to the renters website to check out the options in terms.
With the growth of the textbook renters you should have no trouble finding all the textbooks you need. The order process is generally simple, and most college book renter websites are easy to navigate. Most companies are pretty quick with getting orders shipped out. However, just to be on the safe side, you should place your textbook rental order in plenty of time before classes begin.

Great article. But yes, I agree that when renting textbooks one has to do it early at least one month before the class starts as shipping becomes a challenge especially when the school year begins. Also, swapping or buying the book in its full price has its advantages and disadvantages so try to weigh in your options as well. is a social platform where students, instructors, and student interest groups can work together to reduce cost of college textbooks and education in general.
